Q: Do I have to subscribe to see your content?
A: All of my writing is free to read! That said, if you subscribe to the free tier, you get to see all of my posts a week before everyone else. There are additional rewards for the higher tiers, including a newsletter, but none of my writing is locked behind a paywall.
Q: What should I read first?
A: That depends on what you like! If you're looking for book recommendations, I'd start with book reviews. If you want a quick read, try short stories. Interactive fiction is great fun, if you're looking for something new. And soon, I'll have a webserial to start posting as well, so there will be a longform story to read too!
Q: How do you make your book review and story graphics?
A: I've used all sorts of programs, but my favorites have been GiMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program), and Canva (free). I source my photographs from Unsplash, which has a ton of free use images.
Q: How do you judge book reviews?
A: I actually have a page dedicated to that! Click below to see how I score books.

Q: Do you do ARC reviews?
A: I would love to! It depends on the story, of course, but feel free to reach out if you're interested. I post my reviews on storygraph, instagram and bluesky.
Q: What is Interactive Fiction?
A: There are a lot of different types of interactive fiction, from text-based games to choose your own adventures, to short stories where you click certain words or images to control the pacing. In short, you interact with the story.
Q: What is a webserial?
A: A webserial (also known as a webnovel or webfiction) is a serialized online story. Instead of being published when complete, they are instead regularly published in installments or chapters as they are written. One of the m0st famous pieces of serialized fiction is Sherlock Holmes, which was written in installments that were later collected and published in different volumes. A webserial is just the same, simply on the internet instead of a specific magazine. Look forward to mine!
Q: Do your stories have content warnings?
A: Yes! I'm a big believer in content warnings. They're located in a drop down menu on the page of every review, story, etc. That way they're there if you want them, but you don't have to use them if you'd prefer not to.
Q: How can I best support you?
A: Recommending my stories to others who might enjoy them helps more than you would think! If you want to support me financially, I have monthly paid tiers you can sign up for with a thank you in the form of a newsletter. You can also leave a one time tip on my Ko-fi if you prefer.
Q: Is it okay to create fanart or fanfiction about your stories?
A: I have a couple of rules: You need to credit my work (refer back to this site/the specific work in a clear and obvious way) and make it clear that you don't claim my specific characters/settings/etc. as your own. Basically, fanart and fanfiction are more than welcome for noncommercial purposes. I'd love to see it!
If you want to do something potentially commercial or more involved, such as full translations, audio books or recordings, or something outside the scope of general fanart, feel free to email me at divergentdaydreamer@gmail.com to ask about it.
Lastly, the most important rule: You will not ever have my permission to feed my work to AI (including GenAI, C.AI, etc.). There are reasons this site is locked behind a sign-up, and part of that is to prevent theft.
Q: Will your stories ever have a physical version or ebook?
A: Perhaps one day! I would love to write enough of my (soon to be coming!) webserial to put into a book, and likewise, creating and printing a short story collection would be wonderful. So the answer is no, not at this time, but ideally in the future.
Q: Do you use AI of any kind in your work?
A: I do not believe in using AI for creative work, and I will never use AI or GenAI during my writing process. I believe the human heart holds a spark of creativity and emotion that cannot be emulated by machinery – most especially not when the machines are trained on the stolen and copyrighted works of others, as GenAI is. Everything you see written, down to this very sentence, is 100% written by me.
